These two are married and I will not hear otherwise. They bicker and fight but they grew up together and they support each other and they're basically raising three kids together. The scene in the restaurant, after Kaoru is released from the hospital, destroyed me. It's just the way Kojiro looks at him while he's asleep. It's no secret that Kojiro finds Kaoru attractive, it's literally canon that he was attracted to him at the beach until he realized who he was looking at. I love them so much.
